Changes....

Tomorrow starts my new position.  I was promoted to Office Manager at my job and I'm pretty excited and nervous about it.  I hope all works out okay.  I'm sure it will all be fine. I have a few good people behind me to help out so, I'm sure nothing too bad can go wrong. Wish me luck! I'm going to try and keep up with posting but, please understand if I'm not around for a couple weeks.  It's a big adjustment!

Motherhood Monday 3/22

What have your kids done recently to amaze you?

Both my kids have amazed me every single day of their lives!

X-man is the smartest 4 year old I know! His most recent amazing accomplishment has been mastering the Lego's Star Wars game on the PS2 Santa brought for him this past Christmas.  I can't even manage to move my character in a straight line yet he completes each level with ease! He plays for about 2-4 hours a day in 2 different 1-2 hour blocks.  Both blocks of play are when his baby sister takes a nap and goes down for the night.  I have really been trying to limit his time because he is increasingly become "obsessed" with PS2 and may possibly need PS2A (Play Station2 Anonymous, incase you were wondering).

A-Booh's most recent amazing accomplishment is her ability to sing! She is 20 months old and can sing every word to every song in The Wizard of Oz, the theme to Mickey Mouse Club House, Barney, Imagination Movers and multiple songs by Rascal Flatts! Now the most amazing part is, she sings them without the music playing.  Some other amazing A-Booh things are she can balance on one foot without holding onto anything, she walks up stairs without holding on to the stairs or the handrails and she can count to fifteen.

Big #2 This Summer!

Lately, I've been trying to figure out what theme A's 2nd birthday should be and I think I may have found the perfect one! I was searching Etsy for a Birthday Dress and found the outfit pictured right. It's made by One Two Three Shops. 

I got to thinking, Disney? No, Minnie! A. loves Mickey and Minnie Mouse so, why not.  It just makes sense and since I completely fell in love with the outfit, I have to get it. It's pretty reasonably priced but I will need to wait until it's a bit closer to A's birthday  

I'm going to have to search around some more on Etsy to find a matching outfit for X.  I'm going to see if I can find a t-shirt with a tie appliqué in Mickey and maybe find a couple of fabric appliqués to put on shirts for hubby and I.  That would be simply adorable!

At partystore.com, I found the perfect party accessories.  Minnie Mouse plates, cups and invitations. Look how perfect the plates match the outfits. 

Best of all, the Minnie party supplies are all on sale for 1/2 off! I'm going to try and convince my hubby to purchase them this week. The invitations are regular price but we only need three packs.  Now to find a place for the shin-dig, maybe the backyard will be fixed by then? Oh, I can only hope.

Where to start?

My husband is a professional photographer, schooled and everything. While blog hopping at some blog designing sites, a light bulb went off.  We had been trying to figure out a way to promote my husband's business and I though, why not make him a blog?  I don't know why this has never come to my mind before tonight. Maybe it was the blog hopping.

I wanted to put together something that would be a sort of an informational selling page. A place we can post his price list, portfolio pictures, contact info, you know important stuff.  I love blog designing and I think I really could do a great job on it.  If you haven't noticed, I've changed my blog look a few times in the past few months.  I have loved learning html and I think that I could definitely do a blog for him and help him to maintain it.  

What I am wondering is, where would I go to "purchase" certain graphics? I know I can't use freeware, after all, it would be for commercial use.  Does anyone know a good site that is not too expensive.  I really just want to be able to show what he does, what his prices are and what each package would include.  Nothing too big but, I do want to have some pretty graphics on the site.  Any help would be appreciated. Click the link for the actual recipe or if you need to alter the serving. The site will allow you to add more servings or less if needed.

Garlic and Lime Shrimp

Prep Time: 15-30 Min        Cook Time: 4-5 Min       Ready In: 20-35 Min

Serves: 4 

Ingredients

• 1 1/4 pounds uncooked large shrimp, peeled and deveined
• 2 tablespoons lime juice
• 2 tablespoons chopped garlic
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
• Chopped fresh cilantro or parsley (optional)

Directions

1. Combine shrimp, lime juice, 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce, garlic and salt in large bowl or place it all into a freezer bag. Cover and marinate in refrigerator for 15-30 minutes.
2. Remove shrimp from marinade. Place shrimp in a steamer bag and add a small amount to the marinade back into the steamer bag with a few slices of lime. Steam in the microwave on high for 4 to 4 1/2 minutes. Shrimp should be pink.
3. Sprinkle with cilantro or parsley.
4. Serve over rice, Spanish or white

Wordless Wednesday 03/17

I found this new website called Lamebook. My niece sent it to me! It's all the lame stuff form Facebook.  I saw this and couldn't resist using it for my first Wordless Wednesday picture! I laughed histerically!

This picture was taken a the local zoo this past summer. The had just opened up the new splash pad section and I let the kids try it out! They had fun. I can't wait until it opens this summer.

I have been on a weight loss plan since January 4th and have found some really wonderful recipes (most by accident).  So, I've been thinking, "Why not start a new follow posting for Fridays and share my recipes?"  I've decided to call the follow - Share Your Recipe Friday and created a button for it.

• No Points Vegetable Soup 

• Ingredients:
• 10 oz baby spinach leaves
• 2 medium carrots chopped
• 2 medium celery ribs chopped
• 1 large onion chopped
• 1 medium garlic clove minced (I use jar garlic - 1/2 tbsp) 
• 4-8 cups vegetable stock (depending on how soupy you would like it)
• 6 large tomatoes diced or (1) 28 oz canned diced tomatoes or 28 oz of canned tomatoes and chili's mixed (if you like spicy food)
• 2 bay leaves
• 1 tbsp dried basil
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
• Add prepared ingredients in large pot, bring to boil and reduce heat to low. Simmer, partly covered at least 10 minutes. I simmered it for about 30 minutes.
